Volvo Key Fob Troubleshooting

Volvo drivers love the remote control capabilities of their key fob. They can lock and unlock their car as well as start the motor and even find it using an app for smartphones.

Place the fob's face up on a clean surface. Find the button that opens it, wedge a coin between the cover and the fob and then pull it up with care.

Locking the Doors

Volvo's remote keyfobs let you unlock your vehicle's doors, tailgate and fuel filler flap with the press of a button. Remote key fobs can also switch on the ignition, and also activate the alarm. They can even operate the sunroof, if it is equipped. With these features, you'll never have to search for your keys or have to lock yourself out of your car.

Beginning the Engine

It will emit an intense, attention-grabbing roar that can scare off thieves and allow you to return home safe after a long night out. This feature is helpful when you reside in a hazardous area, or want to ensure the safety of your family when you are away from home.

Opening the Tailgate

Volvo's key fob is packed with a variety of useful features. These are perfect for when you're busy with grocery shopping or helping your kids pack up their sports gear following practice.

Find a smooth surface and lay out your key fob, battery and other keys. Place the key fob with the Volvo logo facing up and then find a small black button at the left-hand side of the fob. Slide it to the right. The cover should fall off and expose the key blade's mechanical structure beneath.

You can unlock all doors and the rear gate by pressing the unlock button on the fob's keypad twice. The lock button also shuts the windows and the sunroof (if equipped) by pressing it for 2 seconds. Reconnect the battery, and the alarm will stop. If it doesn't, the owners manual should contain a procedure to reset the system.
