Door Handle Replacement

Door handles seem like something minor but if you aren't happy with the way they look or are unable to use them and use, you should consider replacing them. Installing a new door handle is simple if you have patience.

Door handles aren't just an an important aesthetic addition to your home but they're also vital for safety since they let you lock and unlock your door. However, over time, your door handle may lose its grip, appear loose or start to look old and worn. This is a clear indication that it's time to replace your door handle.

If your door handle is becoming difficult to use, it might be time to replace it. This is a problem because it means that you can no longer lock or unlock your door which could be a security risk for you and your family.

Another reason to replace the door handle is if it's damaged or broken. A broken door handle can be very dangerous, especially in the event that your children or senior family members have difficulty opening it and end up trapped within. It's easy to replace a damaged handle on doors.

The latch plate should be removed from the door once the screws have been removed. If the latch plate is stuck or won't move use a small file to scrape the edges. This may help free the plate.

Now you can prepare the new strike plate to be installed. Screw the latch plate into the door jamb using the screws that were included with the new handles for internal bifold Doors. Do not overtighten your screws because this could cause damage to the strike plate.

If you are not sure whether the latch plate is in the correct position, shut and then open the door to see whether it locks and closes properly. If it doesn't you'll have to adjust the strikeplate up or down or forward or back until the door handles victorian closes correctly.

If the door is jiggling or moving, it may be necessary to expand the latch hole in the strike plate. Removal of the Latch

After removal of the trim plate you should be able to remove the latch and the bolts that hold it in place and the spindle that holds it.

If the latch doesn't easily come out it is suggested to use a paper clip or a tool to spring it loose from the handle mechanism. Place the item in the slot for the latch that is recessed. gently move it around until you feel the latch and handle start to separate. You may need to repeat this several times before the latch comes loose enough to let it out.

After the old latch is removed and the old latch is removed, you should be able to slide the new latch into the slot without issues. Make sure that the latch is positioned correctly in the slot and aligned with the screw chambers, and then use the new screws to fasten it to the strike plate and door frame.

Take note of the backset (the distance between the center of the large hole in the door's front and the edge) prior to installing the new handle. Verify that the size of the latch of the new handle is equal to the measurement.
