The Best Robot Hoover

The best robot hoover can clean and mop without requiring your attention, and will leave your floors spotless. Its surprisingly affordable price and features that are high-end (such as dirt detection) are a plus.

1. Roomba Q5 pro

robot-vacuum-mops-logo-text-black-png-orThe Q5 Pro and its sibling, the pricier Q7 Max Series, are among the most powerful robot vacuum cleaner best vacuums we've examined. They feature top-of-the-line motors that can pull up to 5,500 Pascals of suction force. And, like other premium iRobot models (including the top choice) they utilize intelligent mapping technology to create detailed floor plans and avoid home-based obstacles like cords and furniture legs. They also come with carpet boost that increases the robot's power when it sees the presence of dirt on the carpet in order to get it cleaned quickly.

Both the Q5 and the Q7 Max Series get very excellent scores in our floor tests that test for bare floors, and they're particularly adept in cleaning pet hair. However, they do have a few flaws however, which hinder them from being our top choice. For one, the Q5's navigation system does not feature AI-powered obstacle avoidance technology, so it's prone to get caught up in socks and shoes and couldn't navigate tightly packed rooms very efficiently in our tests. Also, it doesn't have a camera that would let it see the corners of a room.

It's still a great deal particularly if your home or office has lots of unfinished floors and you're looking to save some money. It's also very quiet and works while you're at work or school. The only thing it's missing that you don't get in the pricier iRobot Roomba X30 is edge-to-edge vacuuming of floors with no floor. And it's less effective at mopping, as it relies on disposable wet wipes, which don't stick on well and aren't able to handle dried-on debris. The Q5 does have an auto-emptying dock, however. If you want to, you can swap the mopping pad to dry ones in just a few seconds.

2. iRobot Roomba X30

The iRobot Roomba X30 packs impressive mopping and vacuuming capabilities into a sleek, compact package. Its intelligent cleaning maps and nimble navigation make it easy to clean and effective in tackling larger particles such as pet hair. It also features a self-emptying bin, best robot hoover powerful suction, and support for virtual boundaries. It's the most efficient robot hoover for carpets, but it isn't as efficient as some of its competitors in deep cleaning.

This high-performing combination vacuum and mop uses advanced sensor technology to dodge obstacles and pet waste and it will learn your home's layout over time to ensure more efficient cleaning. You can modify the schedule of cleaning and even customize zones using the app that is well-designed. Its battery life is average in comparison to other models.

You can tell the X30 Ultra to remove its mops and extend them when it's in a carpeted area which prevents cross-contamination. The flex arm can be used to reach under furniture with low levels and along baseboards. It doesn't perform as well on the washboard as our other Editors' Choice Picks, the Ecovacs Ozmo N8Pro+ and the iRobot Combo j9+.

During testing during testing, the X30 Ultra was the fastest robot vacuum/mop in the market to clean an entire house, finishing with the battery at 66 percent left. It did a good cleaning job on different rooms and floors with various flooring types including some area carpets. Its obstacle detection was top-of-the-line, and it nimbly avoided fake dog turds, socks, shoes, and bundles of cables.

It's a little more expensive than iRobot Combo v9+ or iRobot Roomba j9+ but offers superior suction and an onboard bin that automatically empty into the base. It also supports voice commands via Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It can clean the floor even after it vacuums. This is a feature that we haven't seen on other robotic vacuum/mop combinations.

3. iRobot Roomba X40

With an elegant circular design that appears more like a normal Roomba rather than the boxy units this robot cleaner with mop vacuum and mop combo is one of the most attractive looking models in our tests. The latest model from iRobot is also among its most advanced. It comes with advanced features like Enhanced Dirt Detection and future compatibility (another company's robot that is able to wash mop pads in a self-cleaning manner).

It's the only robotic mop or vacuum that scored a perfect 10 in our tests, thanks to a combination of high-tech sensors, which include cameras, a structured light system, and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra is also the only robot we tested that can fully self-refill and empty its base station, and it boasts its own self-cleaning mop pads.

As with other iRobot models like the X40 is user-friendly, offering an easy mobile app interface, and integration with Amazon Alexa, Apple HomeKit, and Google Assistant. The only issue is that the X40 still a noisy unit. This could be a problem in mornings prior to work or during the night when you are trying to sleep.

It's also a bit costly, best Robot hoover but not as much as the Ecovacs S8 MaxV Ultra or the Roborock S8 Omni, which are both equally capable and better looking. It's a dual-purpose vacuum that's very capable however it's going to cost you more and make more noise.

4. iRobot Roomba L20 Ultra

The L20 Ultra is the top-of-the high-end robot mop and vacuum. It has a number of advanced features that make you forget about your chores. The L20 Ultra is a hands-free cleaning device, similar to Ecovacs the top of the line X2 Omni or Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra. It features a multi-functional dock that can automatically emptys the vacuum's bin and fills up the water tank, and cleans and dries the mop pads.

The smart robot cleaner makes use of a combination of LIDAR and structured light to map out floor plans and spot obstacles, and navigates more effectively than its top rivals. It also has a camera mounted on the front to detect hazards in real-time however, it wasn't 100% foolproof during our tests and was sometimes confused by power cords or other obstructions.

The vacuum has a suction maximum of 7,000 Pascals which is more than enough to finish the job. It also comes with a feature known as "Intelligent Dirt Detection", that regulates the vacuum's power and adjusts cleaning frequency for different areas of the house based on how dirty the areas are.

If you have a larger home, it is worth choosing a model that has spot or zone cleaning mode. This allows you to inform the robot of which area of your home must be cleaned by using the app or voice command. A stairway mode is beneficial if you have lot furniture. For busy families, a recharge function and resume feature that permits your robot vacuum to continue from where it left off could be very useful.

iRobot RX3

The RX3 is a cleaner with more intelligence than you would expect from its price tag. It vacuums well, picking up 55% debris in our tests. (It was only second to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mops using one pad, which uses an oscillating motion that is cleaner than the other robot vacuum cleaners best mop cleaners we've tested. It's also self-sufficient with a full-featured app and a self emptying, washable base.

The well-designed iRobot app guides you through a mapping run that gathers information about your floorplan and any "no-go" areas you set on the map. You can use it to create cleaning schedules, set up an area for cleaning or to sort out your rooms with the most dirt for better performance. The app also gives access to a host of features, such as seasonal suggestions, custom maps, and advanced settings for your cleaning.

Its shape is more rectangular than most other robot vacuums, meaning it can get to corners and underneath furniture better. It has a powerful 8,000 Pascal suction, as well as intelligent combs to remove pet hair. You can also set up a spot-clean that will thoroughly clean a specific area.

The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD offers a sleeker, cheaper alternative to iRobot Roomba. It's more appealing, Dolce & Gabbana-esque design and its twin cameras resemble cute eyes. It does a great job vacuuming, but it's more likely to get stuck on low thresholds. It also has a higher noise than other top robot vacuums we have test. It also comes with an app that is less intuitive and has a tiny base station that does not double as a bin to empty.
