World of Warcraft Item Upgrades
Item upgrades are a way to increase the stats of an item. Based on the type of upgrade it could raise an item's Mark level or Rarity, and also boost other stats.
Each item has a track to upgrade it. Each upgrade increases the cost of the following one by a specific amount.
Item Level
The value of an item's base stats increases when it is upgraded. This is the sum of all its leveled up benefits (attack, magic attack and defense). Upgrades can be costly, dependent on who you employ and what you do. This is due to the sheer number of perks that have to be changed in order to upgrade item an item.
Item level is a popular measurement of power and can be found on all item tooltips. It can also be used to limit the amount of PvP gear players are able to wear since PvP is not available at lower levels. Players can see their average item level in their character sheet.
The level of an item can help players evaluate the strength of equipment when they decide to buy or sell. It's a useful gauge of an item's worth and the amount of damage it will be capable of dealing with. The level of an item can be used to compare items when evaluating the inventory of a vendor.
The item level can be seen by pressing the ALT key on a PC or using the left stick (L3) on XB1 and PS4. This will display the item's full description, including the ilvl. You can also locate it by hovering over an item and typing /itemlevel into chat.
There are many theories about how the level of an item is calculated. One theory says that the level of an item is calculated using a formula that calculates the value of an item upgrading's stats actually are. It considers the fact that different perks have different values and that gems in sockets increase the value of the item overall. This can result in a calculated item's ilvl that is usually very close to Blizzards actual item level.
However, this is not the only factor which affects an item's ilvl, as the level of the area the item was dropped in could change the value of its stats, such as by adding a level to its haste or crit rating. Items that drop in higher-level situations will have higher ilvl.
Item Stats
Item stats are a big element in what determines the value of an Best item upgrade for players. The game makes use of a lot of them in a variety of ways to encourage players to play with multiple weapons, and prevent one weapon from being "the most effective." The stat modifications of a weapon boost the base stats. These stat mods are then increased by a player's skill.
Item upgrades add to that by boosting certain stats on the item. The upgrade costs are determined by the rarity of the item. An item that is white or grey for instance, will only be upgraded once, while an item that has rare tiers can be upgraded multiple times with higher prices.
Affixes can also be used to alter the stats of an item. These are special stat boosts that can be added to an item by the player and come in a variety of sizes and shapes. Affixes are used to provide items with extra damage or special abilities (such as reviving dead or reducing cooling downs), or to differentiate them by naming them.
Presently, all affixes are able to be modified by selecting them in the upgrade window and pressing the green button, which is accompanied by the arrows that circle. It will cost a set amount in gold and other items. They can also be used as upgrade gauges, as with other methods of rerolling.
In addition to rerolling affixes, players can also choose which of the available stats to keep on an item upgrader kit after it is upgraded. The possible ranges of stats for an item are based on the level of the item, however all items are guaranteed to have at least 1 stat within that range, unless it is an item that is unique or the result of a God roll from a boss of a raid.
This is another thing that can be modified by adding the option to upgrade the equipment without rerolling the affixes or deciding which stats to increase. However, as with the base equipment, this would need to be performed on a per-item basis and the interface for comparing items would not display all the possible stats either lost or gained at the same time.
Item Luck
The Luck stat for a player adds up to increase the odds of finding items and the properties that are spawned from loot drops and the intensity of those properties. However, it does not directly impact damage or the ability to upgrade items. It gives the player an opportunity to get better equipment earlier in the game. This is more advantageous in early game runs since players tend to prioritize defenses and weapon scaling over raw damage gains.
In addition to influencing the discovery of items, Luck also increases the chance of success when upgrading items using the Blacksmith. This should not be confused with the Blacksmith's overall chance of upgrading that increases with each item level and can be further increased by using an anti-material, such as a Scroll of Strength or a Jewel of Blessing.
The shields, armor and weapons have the default Luck value of 40. These items can be upgraded with golden ingots, spined leather, or oak boards (depending on the item's material type) to grant a further +40 Luck or to increase the luck of an item, up to 140.
Furthermore some items, such as the Hollow weapon, which is infused with Hollow can be used to increase the damage dealt by any damage-dealing skill by 5percent. These items can be bought at the store or made using the correct ingredients.
Item Failure
Upgrades to items are expensive and not all upgrades will be successful. Cash shop items can be used to boost the success rate of an upgrade, or to protect players from losing their items if it is not successful.
The success rate of an upgrade is shown in the Honing UI. The percentage indicates the probability of successfully upgrading an item. This can be increased by using Additional Materials or Special Materials. There are limits to the extent to which success rates can be increased and the probability of a failed upgrade cannot exceed 100%..
The luck of an item can also affect the success of an upgrade. Each item has a base success rate of 25% and each item with Luck increases the chance of success by five percent.
It is important to note that upgrade items are rendered above the items in the inventory, so enchantment glint and other effects can be obstructed by the overlays. If you wish to disable the upgrade overlays, the config option decoration.renderUpgradeOverlays can be set to False in the Item Upgrader CORE client config.
