WoW Upgrades - The item upgrading Upgrader
Upgrades will give you a boost to specific stats. Each upgrade increases the level of an item by 3. A random substat is also added to each upgrade.
The upgraded gear is usually more valuable, unless it has low requirements by nature (like FB sorc shields) or has a large variance in stats (like the eth Titan weapons). The latter are less valuable from upgrading due to the necessity to roll for a perfect version.
Recycle Points
The upgrader for items allows players to upgrade gear to a higher level by supplying the appropriate currency to the NPC. Upgrades can be applied to any kind of weapon or armor. However, the item upgrader mod used for the upgrade will be consumed for the duration of time and can't be used again. Upgrades can be applied to enchantments.
The upgrader is located in all major cities, and can be accessed anytime to upgrade your gear. It is recommended to visit the upgrader at least once every few weeks to keep your equipment up-to-date.
The cost of upgrades will vary based on the current level of the item being upgraded but they will always be cheaper than buying new equipment from other sources. Upgrades such as upgrading a Benthic chest up to the level of ilvl385 will cost you 20 recycle points. Buying a similar item will cost you 105.
Valorstones
Upgrades are items that can be used for weapons, armor, tools, and accessory upgrades. They can be purchased by players from NPCs that sell upgrades to items in exchange for various currencies, and can also be found in random treasure lists. Once purchased, an upgrade is able to be applied to any weapon, tool, or armor. The button will show the preview of an item's next level of upgrade, when there are enough materials.
The cost of upgrades varies based on the item slot and the current level of the item upgrader kit, with weapons costing more than bracers or gloves, for example. Each upgrade costs 15 Flightstones plus a specific number of crests. Some upgrades give a discount on the Flightstones. Once an item is upgraded to a certain level it is able to be downgraded and sold to the upgrader at a lower cost.
Many locations have upgraders for their items, including the main Island and some outposts. The NPCs offer both an upgrade coupon and the chance to obtain the latest recipe. The discount for upgrades increases depending on the amount of items being upgraded, and can be boosted by having players complete some specific achievements or quests.
Unlike Cromwell in Baldur's Gate II is no upgrader for items available in the beginning of Icewind Dale. The NPCs who can facilitate upgrades are available only through a variety of methods. This is both a positive and a drawback.
In Season 3, several new features were added to the upgrade system. Once a player obtains an upgrade to a specific level of an item for a specific armor slot, upgrading other items to that level will cost less, even in the event that they belong to an entirely different set of gear.
The discount is available to all accounts. The amount of Harbinger Crests needed for upgrades is reduced too, but it is only available when certain milestones are achieved.
Crests
When upgrading equipment in WoW players have a few options. Flightstones are an item that is available to everyone who wants to upgrade. Crests are more specialized and are used for specific item level upgrade (humphries-ritchie.mdwrite.net) level upgrades. Crests are an important component of the Dragonflight Gear Progression System introduced in version 10.1. They come in four ranks.
The first thing to note is that crests can only be used on gear of a specific rank, and each rank has its own requirements for upgrading. The simplest and simplest upgrade is 15 crests. The most complex upgrade could require as much as 20 crests, depending on the kind of gear being upgraded.
Players can earn crests through finishing content at the appropriate level. This could be by doing outdoor activities or doing dungeons or raids in all difficulties to get lower-tier gear or Mythic+ raid bosses or dungeons with heroic difficulty for endgame gear. These crests can then be exchanged at an upgrader NPC, such as Cuzolth in Dornogal, or Vaskarn in Valdrakken to obtain the appropriate upgrade paths and steps.
The use of these currencies isn't too difficult however, the system does introduce some changes to the overall upgrade process. For instance, once an item reaches the highest upgrade level of any rank (Explorer, Adventurer, Veteran, Champion, Hero, or Mythic), it will no longer require Flightstones to be upgraded. This change is intended to allow players to upgrade their equipment up to the highest possible ilvl for all their characters instead of relying only on seasonal loot.
It's also important to use crests wisely, as they are only used for one purpose. It's best to use your Whelpling-rank Crests on the highest-quality gear you can locate and save Drake and Wyrm Crests for the next set of upgrades. This is especially relevant for items like rings and trinkets that occupy multiple slots. The account-wide discount is only applicable when all slots on the character are filled with top-quality equipment.
