Path of Exile Item Upgrading

Item upgrading allows players to improve their weapons and gear with new affixes, increasing the base stats of the item upgrader kit (more tips here) or giving additional benefits. To upgrade an item, a player has to have it in their inventory and have access to the kiln.

Usually, items with weak bases (like rings) can be upgraded to a stronger base, whereas items with strong bases such as eth titans do not vary in their stats following being upgraded.

Upgrade components

Upgrade components can be slotted into trinkets, armor, weapons and gathering tools, giving an added bonus or effect while the equipment is being used. They can be purchased from vendors, found in loot, dropped by enemies or received as a reward from missions or chests. Certain upgrades can also be equipped with special cosmetic effects. Most upgrades require that the equipment be at a specific level to upgrade.

To upgrade a weapon or piece of armor, the player must select it and then click on the Upgrade button located in the toolbar. This will show a preview on the right side of the screen showing what the expected upgrade stats will be as well as the required element or material required to make that happen.

There are three types that are universal upgrades (which include gems) Prefix upgrades and suffix upgrade components. Universal upgrades, which are made up of gems, can be put in any type of equipment, and offer lower bonuses than upgrade components that are type-restricted. Infusions, which can only be placed in ascended gear and legendary equipment are exactly the same as jewels but provide larger bonuses and Item Upgrader Kit cannot be used in any other equipment. Suffix upgrades can be added to gathering tools. They add a suffix to the end of the names of items. For example adding the suffix Glyph will transform a Staff wrapping of Minor Vigor a Canthan staff wrapping of Minor Vigor.

If a player upgrades a gathering tool and replaces glyphs with another glyph, the old one will be returned to their inventory. If you replace another upgrade component, it will be destroyed, with the exception for the inscriptions that can be freely swapped.

Leveling

Path of Exile's upgrade system differs from previous versions in several fundamental ways. Gear is now divided into tracks and items can be upgraded a certain number of times before they're "leveled out." The cost of upgrading increases with each level, but the required materials do not increase as much. This lets players focus their efforts on a few important items to maximize their impact, instead of spreading cost of upgrades across several items.

This allows the item to receive new upgrade components, and have a greater chance of success. This bonus is known as the Artisan's Energy, and it will reset to zero after failure or increases if the upgrade is successful.

When a piece of equipment is upgraded to its highest level, it will be able to receive affixes that will increase its features. The amount of affixes available will depend on the item's type. For example an uncommon or rare weapon with a normal base will have only two affixes for it, whereas legendary armors can have up to eight affixes available for it.

Each upgrade will require an amount of Flightstones and crests depending on the current level of the item and the slot it's in. Typically, weapons will require more Flightstones to upgrade than other kinds of equipment.

If an item fails to attain its maximum level, the NPC gives players the option to transfer it to a different character and then re-infuse it with a new set or upgrades. This process can take between one and two hours and cost the same amount of materials. However it has a lower chance of success.

To measure the height of a structure engineers employ a level to compare the measurement against a known reference point like a benchmark, or the ground's elevation. This process is known as a "level-loop." This involves taking readings using the level, backsighting rod and then turning the level to take the foresighting rod reading. This method ensures that buildings are constructed to an extremely high degree of precision and safety.

Rerolling

Rerolling is the process of changing the upgrade components of an item. It is a very important aspect of the game and can boost the damage, strength or other characteristics. You can do this through the item menu, or by pressing the Reroll button whenever you upgrade an item. Rerolling can be costly and should only be used in the rarest of circumstances.

The game lets players recycle upgraded items, which can be used to earn Reroll tokens. These tokens can be used to upgrade the original item, or to upgrade another similar item. Recyclable items come with an indicator of level that indicates how much of the upgrade gauge is filled. The rarity and the cost of upgrading an item level upgrade determines the amount of level that has been filled.

Prior to this, certain upgrade items were given priority affixes which made them more accessible for players to roll. This meant that you'd get the most crucial stats to your build more frequently than others. This included things like the armor's total armor, thorns and control impaired duration reduction stats or the weapon's bonus attack speed and critical strike chance.

This has changed since the latest patch. Priority affixes have been removed and all upgrades will have the same chances of rolling for each stat. This could be a positive or a bad thing, depending on your needs and requirements from your equipment.

Each upgraded item upgrader mod may also come with a unique, fixed-value bonus that increases its strength by a certain percentage. These bonuses are rolled into the standard affixes. The more you improve an Best item upgrade, the higher your chance of getting the bonus of your choice.

The game also includes a number of sets, that offer a set-based bonus when three or more upgraded items from the same set are installed on a unit. This is a great method of giving an individual character more power without spending a ton of money.

Many players are known to reroll their weapons and equipment, especially in the early stages. Rerolling can give players a faster path to a powerful character, allowing them to reach higher levels and progress in the game more quickly.

Sets

Sets are groups of elements that can be put together in various ways. They could be of various sizes, have no elements, or only contain one element. They can be used to organize data or organize information. They also aid in studying patterns. Sets can be classified in several ways, including by size and shape.

There are a variety of set items that can be upgraded in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. Some items are worth upgrading while others aren't. Upgrades are worth it for armor sets that provide high defense and set bonuses. Weapon upgrades are not as effective in boosting stats as their counterparts in purple. This makes them less attractive to upgrade if you already have many armor or weapons already.

Set items can be upgraded to include special procs that are useful for specific builds. This is evident in Aldur's Advance Boots and Guillaume's Face. Both were upgraded to Exceptional Winged Helms and Exceptional Mirrored Boots, respectively. This increased their defense from 217 to 321. (Strength requirements and Level requirements also increased).

Upgrades can also be done to bring certain items to parity with the different tiers. The Immortal King Set, for example, has a wide range of levels ranging from 29 to 75. Upgrading lower-level set items can increase their defense and increase their competitiveness in terms of damage.

To determine if a product is worth upgrading, players should click the Upgrade button on the screen for their character. The item's attributes will be displayed as well as any necessary items. For example the No-mouth face will require 1.1K Scrap Materials and 250 Enchanted Dust, and 5 Glowing Shards to upgrade. Players can also check the upgrade requirements for specific items at the Cyrodiil Golden vendor or Leaderboard.

In general, weapons and jewelry offer greater value for trading when fully upgraded than armor. Upgrades to gold are recommended for weapons with weapons-damage or spell glyphs. This will bring about a significant improvement in their stats. Armor that has an upgraded appearance will benefit from this upgrade because its defense will increase as it moves from purple to gold.
