Levers are used to lift heavy objects and transport large amounts of cargo. This is also the basis behind levers found in many everyday tools such as crowbars, fishing rods hammer claws and even your own legs when you stand on the hand brakes of your car.

Lever/Pad

This is a well-known handle style for front doors. It has the advantage of keeping the door from opening from outside without a key if the lock isn't deadlocked. This is accomplished through the 'pad'-shaped external handle which locks in the gap between the handles and lock case to stop the latch from being withdrawn or the door opened.
