Line-up

Turn Back, the band's third studio album it was an attempt to return to the traditional sextet style and a more consistent, stronger effort that had a more grittier edge. The more edgier sound of Turn Back was a reflection of the growth of the band. Drummer Bobby Kimball's increased virtuosity was reflected by the vocals of Joseph Williams, who had become more confident and mature. Keyboardist David Paich's work also was sharper, more intricate and less cloned earlier efforts.

After touring to promote their album, the group recorded the band's Amsterdam live concert that was released by Eagle Records as a 2-CD set entitled Falling In Between. A new studio album was released shortly after, and the group embarked on an extensive world tour to promote it.
